DSA
Although born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Diana Sekemi attended college in two different countries. She was born into a proud Ekiti family that's originally from Kogi State. Diana's grandfather settled in a small industrious town in Ekiti state where the Akerele family is very prominent today.
Growing up, Diana and her siblings were raised on the love of God and music. She remembers her Dad always playing music from many gospel artistes including Panam Percy Paul, Don Moen, and the Maranatha singers. He also loved Afro high life musicians like Ebenezer Obey, Sunny Ade, and Shina Peters. All the children would dance while their Dad, the late Apostle S.O. Akerele, would dance with them and spray them with money. Diana sang in many church choirs and was named Muri International Television (MITV) talent of the year in the 90’s for her voice and other artistic endeavors.
Diana had a dedicated Christian father who instilled in his children the love of God and how to pray. He also believed in hard work and was always happy - something he passed to his children with his famous tag line "Don’t worry, Be happy." Growing up with such a great man and a strict upbringing based on biblical principles, helped make Diana who she is today.
In the late 90’s, Diana gained admission into the University of Ibadan, but eventually migrated to the United Kingdom in 2003 after a couple of years. Diana has spent the last 15 years in various leadership positions ascending the Corporate ladder within Technology and Financial Services. She recently pivoted to Healthcare and manages Synergy Homecare of Clifton-Secaucus, a part of Curain Healthcare Services where she serves as CEO. Curain Healthcare Services is an emerging Healthcare company that focuses on Healthcare Solutions, Advocacy, and bringing therapeutic services to those in need especially children with special needs.
Diana is very passionate about her volunteer work, supports non-profit projects, and has designed multiple initiatives for women including the Non-Profit Accelerator Hub program for Positive Planet US, a key program focused on empowering minority women entrepreneurs to start new businesses. She also founded the Women Leaders Roundtable (WLR), a women led diversity group while at Capgemini for executive women. Diana also launched many initiatives that helped improve gender diversity, including a return to work program for women who took parental leave and other programs to improve employee engagement. She is always cooking something and is a passionate philanthropist.
Diana is a proud member of Agape House of Worship, a church with amazing leadership where dreamers are nurtured and leaders are equipped. She serves in the True Wealth ministry and she is a career counsellor. She loves reading, learning new things, music, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two adorable boys. She is also a Mentor, a coach, a champion and a women advocate that believes in helping all those within her sphere of influence.
